General Mills recalls more flour after pulling 10 MILLION pounds of it off the shelves due to E coli outbreak across 21 states

The company, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, announced on Friday it had expanded its recall to include flour made earlier in the fall.

The expanded recall came after the US Food And Drug Administration (FDA) identified potentially toxic strains of E Coli in flour collected at the home of people who became ill in Arizona and Oklahoma.

At least 42 people across 21 states have become sick due to the outbreak, according to the Centers For Disease Control And Prevention (CDC).

General Mills recalled 10 millions pounds of flour on June 1 and announced Friday it was pulling more of it off the shelves after an E coli outbreak.

Eleven had to be treated at the hospital. Evidence indicates that flour produced at the General Mills facility in Kansas City, Missouri is a likely source of the current outbreak, the CDC said.
